A Peek Into The Past

You have the honor to be reading the first posting in what I hope will turn out to be an instuctional, fair-minded, and balanced blog. While on occasion you might not agree with my opinions or take on worldnews and events, I hope that will not deter you in any way from at least suffering through it. All throughout my life, I have heard repeated over and over again the merits of listening to opposing points of view. Certainly more than a few times, I have been disgusted with the effort involved in rounding my point of view with different ideas, educating myself in my opponent's states of mind, and arming myself with facts. However, like many things, I truly believe it will pay off in the end. Frequently, I will attempt to connect the present to the past. They are both very much relevent to the other, and to understand one is to understand the other.
When our forefathers created the document that now is the rock of our American lives, the first seven words that they scrawled across the parchment were "We the People of the United States." Even back then, there was the necessity of taking action so that the people would have a better life. 'The People' doesn't specify people of luxury, of politics, or of labor, or any other variation of peoples; it simply means all people.
Now, 223 years later, America's people are suffering once again. Unemployment numbers are soaring just under the federal deficit, and the red and blue political vortex is sucking up even the most innocent bystanders. In 2008, the voters of this great nation voted for change, and change is what they recieved. Whether or not the change was for the better or worst and whether it was the change that we the people expected is not question. The question is and will remain, 'are all the changes that are happening what are best for us, the people?' I hope to explore this in this blog, and welcome you along for the ride with me. In exchange for your patience while we muddle through political and worldly events here, I make you a solemn promise, and that is to respect your opinions and ideals to the very best of my abilities. So help me God.
